The machine manufacturer Hardinge is presenting three new machine concepts at EMO 2021 in Milan, the KELLENBERGER® 10 universal cylindrical grinding machine, the VOUMARD® 1000 platform concept for internal and external cylindrical grinding, and the Hardinge T51 SP MSY, a high-precision turning and milling machine with a newly developed grinding unit. There are also innovations in the areas applications and tool clamping technology. Hardinge has also significantly expanded its portfolio with the takeover of the lathe manufacturer Weisser, St. Georgen.
The KELLENBERGER® 10 is a new universal cylindrical grinding machine: a cost-effective and energy-efficient standard machine with a center height of 200, various options and an excellent price-performance ratio. Possible applications cover a wide range of components. High levels of operational availability, process safety, reliability, productivity and flexibility as well as easy retooling makes the KELLENBERGER® 10 stand out from the rest.
The features: Broad X and Z axis strokes, automatic 1° indexing axis with high positioning accuracy, mm. Additional dressing options. Universal grinding head for holding 2 external grinding disks with a diameter of 500/400 mm and an internal grinding unit. Direct drive internal grinding spindles up to 60,000 rpm. Cost-optimized Fanuc 0i-TFP control with 19’’ touch screen and BLUE SOLUTION programming support for fast, intuitive programming without CNC knowledge.
The VOUMARD® 1000 internal and external cylindrical grinding machine was designed for workpieces with a length of 300 mm and an oscillating circuit diameter of 300 mm.
If required, automation is easy with the VOUMARD® 1000 internal and external grinding machine
The kinematically flexible machine construction, with two linear axes and two rotational axes, is the latest addition. The hydrostatic linear axes with newly developed HYDROLIN® guides are backlash-free for positioning accuracy in the nano range. The high-precision hydrostatic B-axes also carry out all necessary movements of the dressing and measuring devices. This flexibility offers a large number of possibilities for machining options and shortens set-up times. The spindle turret on the B1 axis is equipped with a unique compact grinding spindle head with a flexible internal grinding spindle arrangement for a maximum of four grinding spindles.
The table turret on the B2 axis can optionally be equipped with a workpiece spindle head and a high-precision rotation axis (C axis) including a direct path measuring system and torque motor. This structure enables maximum circularity as well as precision in fine adjustment of the cylindrical form of the internal diameter during cylindrical grinding. The movable X-axis and the 90/180° swiveling B2-axis allow optimal accessibility for measurements of the internal diameter (no risk of collision with the turret), providing greater ease when changing workpieces.
The Hardinge T51 SP MSY high-precision turning and milling machine on display at the expo is equipped with a newly developed grinding unit for complete machining of HSK tool holders. In this case, the grinding unit is brought into operation directly via the interface of the driven tools and used for surface- and longitudinal grinding. Whether for turning, milling or grinding, this is the perfect solution for covering all combined manufacturing requirements. The T51 SP MSY can be equipped with a wide variety of automation systems, depending on the requirements profile for a fully automatic production.
The Hardinge T51 SP MSY hard lathe is used for a combined turning, milling and grinding, and comes equipped with one grinding unit
The Forkardt brand, which is also part of the Hardinge Group, will be at EMO presenting individual clamping systems for customer-specific applications in the automotive, food and mechanical engineering sectors.
With the takeover of J.G WEISSER SÖHNE GmbH & Co. KG, Hardinge expands its portfolio with multi-functional precision lathes and turning centers, enabling synergies in the global sales and service network. This is an addition to the Hardinge Group’s location strategy to provide even greater service to customers in Europe. The high-performing Weisser product and technology segment, plus nearly 400 highly qualified employees are the ideal complement to Hardinge’s overall solution concept. The new-look Hardinge Group will at EMO with all brands present.
