This role is part of the Global Sourcing team, which thrives on Knowledge Driven Sourcing developing optimal solutions based on knowledge of Engineering Design, Manufacturing Processes, Cost Modeling & Quality. This position will be based out of our various global facilities. Occasional travel to Hardinge and supplier facilities is required.

Job responsibilities:

Partner with business units, internal procurement partners, and external partners to define and execute sourcing plans developed by Global Commodity Managers
Give regional inputs to Commodity Managers through use of sourcing tools and processes to facilitate market research, identify efficient procurement scenarios, and facilitate supplier negotiations, to drive annual savings targets and optimization of Total Cost of Ownership
Build positive relationships with internal BU leaders, support business units by proactively understanding the complexities and concerns, elevate these findings to commodity managers to address in commodity strategies
Position will require a great deal of pro-active problem solving and extensive negotiations
Drive execution of sourcing strategies in the regions and own the regional Sourcing metrics
Manage contracts and agreements to ensure that obligations are met and the process for tracking renewals or replacement of existing agreements
Craft negotiation strategies and execute favorable terms and conditions inline with guidance from Global Commodity Managers
Provide thought leadership from a procurement/sourcing perspective and work with business partners to develop responsive & best cost supply chain
Support Commodity Managers in including regional nuances while developing category strategies and with long-term strategic planning
Ability to review, redline and negotiate contracts, pay terms & Costs
Demonstrated experience managing global procurement and sourcing responsibilities, using a strategic sourcing methodology, including category strategies, running competitive bids, supplier selection, risk and compliance evaluation, contract negotiation, and financial analysis
Team player with collaborative style and proven track record of building successful relationships with stakeholders and suppliers

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors in Engineering or Supply Chain or related field. Master’s degree in related field preferred
5-10 years of Sourcing or Purchasing or Quality or Manufacturing Engineering experience
Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English & German (roles outside of Europe, German proficiency is a plus)
For roles in Germany, atleast B2 level German Language Proficiency is required
Strong Excel skills, Excel-VBA & MS Access (desired)

Strong analytical skills (i.e. cost modeling, quotation analysis, supplier selection)

Position Type: Contract to Hire. Successful candidates can be offered full time roles in any of the Hardinge or its subsidiary locations and supplier facilities is required.

Requirements:

Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or related field of study(graduated on OPT(for USA) or current masters student(Germany)) & Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or related field of study
Excel – VBA Macros & MS Access(desired)
At least B2 level German Language Proficiency (for Reutlingen only)
Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt Desired

Duties & Responsibilities:

Clean spend data and understand spend buckets
Develop Spend profiles and support in Commodity Strategy development
Work with commodity managers in preparation and execution of Long Term Agreements as required
Support team in selecting qualified suppliers and developing alternative suppliers, when needed
Support supplier status pulsing, interaction and collaboration with the sourcing team to manage build-to-print
Gather score card data for supplier negotiations
Preparing POs and PO documentation and managing shipping schedules from suppliers
Managing suppliers to meet program requirements with the desire quality and delivery
Work with Offshore teams in Taiwan, China and India
